Back in 1981 I met Stevie. He was 8 years old and he had Cystic Fibrosis.
I had no idea what Cystic Fibrosis was so I set out to find what I could.
At that time there wasn't much information available to tell me what was going on inside Stevie's body. At least not in a way I could understand.
I also found that Stevie didn't have a clue what was happening to him. He was just a specimen for the med students to practice on. "Do your therapy and take your pills."
As can be expected, he wasn't particularly motivated to do either.
His mother did what the doctor's told her without really knowing why.
I found that most of the parents and kids I came in contact with were in the same boat.
That's how "Corpi Meets the C.F. Kid" came to be -
so that the kids that have to suffer throught this disease and the parents that get to help can at least know why.
And if you know why, then maybe you can make it better.
